Anechoic Areas
Anechoic areas are regions within an ultrasound image that appear very dark or black because they do not produce echoes. This happens when the ultrasound waves encounter fluid-filled spaces, such as cysts or blood vessels, which absorb or transmit the sound waves instead of reflecting them back to the probe. These areas help doctors identify and distinguish different tissue types and abnormalities. In essence, anechoic regions indicate the presence of fluid, providing valuable information for diagnosing various medical conditions accurately.
