Andrija Mohorovicic
Andrija Mohorovičić was a Croatian seismologist best known for discovering the "Mohorovičić Discontinuity," or "Moho," which is the boundary between the Earth's crust and the underlying mantle. His work in 1909 involved analyzing seismic waves from earthquakes and observing that they travel at different speeds through the Earth's layers. This groundbreaking discovery helped scientists understand Earth's internal structure and contributed to the fields of geophysics and seismology, enhancing our knowledge of plate tectonics and earthquake behavior. Mohorovičić's contributions laid the foundation for much of modern Earth science.
