Andreas Hofer
Andreas Hofer was an Austrian innkeeper and a prominent Tyrolean patriot who became a key figure in the Tyrolean Rebellion against Napoleonic rule in the early 19th century. Born in 1767, he led his fellow Tyroleans in uprisings from 1809 to 1810 as they sought to resist French dominance and protect their homeland. Hofer is celebrated as a folk hero in Tirol, symbolizing resistance and national pride. He was captured in 1810 and executed, but his legacy endures, representing the struggle for autonomy and the spirit of freedom in Austrian history.
