Andersen Model
The Andersen Model explains why people use healthcare services. It considers three main factors: their pre-existing conditions or health needs, personal and family characteristics like age, income, and beliefs, and external factors such as access to healthcare facilities. The model suggests that an individual’s decision to seek care depends on these elements interacting, meaning healthier or well-informed people might seek care differently than those with urgent needs or fewer resources. It helps understand and improve how health services are accessed within a community or population.
