Ancient Egyptian Cosmology
Ancient Egyptian cosmology presents a universe structured by a divine order, centered around the gods and the Nile’s cycle. The world was seen as a harmonious balance between the sky, represented by the goddess Nut, the earth, ruled by Geb, and the underworld, governed by Osiris. The sun god Ra traveled across the sky daily and through the underworld at night, symbolizing renewal. Mythology emphasized the eternal struggle between order (Ma’at) and chaos (Isfet). These beliefs shaped rituals, kingly authority, and understanding of life, death, and the cosmos as interconnected realms governed by divine forces.
