Anchorite

An anchorite is a person who chooses to live a solitary, ascetic life dedicated to prayer, reflection, and spiritual growth. Historically, they often secluded themselves by dwelling in a small cell or enclosed space, sometimes attached to a church or monastery, to focus entirely on their religious devotion. This intentional withdrawal from society was seen as a way to achieve a closer connection with the divine, emphasizing personal sacrifice and discipline.
