Anatta (Anatman)
Anatta, or Anatman, is a Buddhist concept asserting that there is no unchanging, permanent self or soul within individuals. Instead, what we consider "self" is a dynamic combination of ever-changing physical and mental components—like thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations—that arise and pass away continuously. Recognizing this helps reduce attachment and suffering, as it encourages understanding that identity isn’t fixed but fluid. In essence, Anatta reminds us that the sense of a permanent self is an illusion, promoting equanimity and insight into the true nature of existence.
