Anatomy of the Voice
The anatomy of the voice involves several parts working together to produce sound. Air from the lungs travels through the windpipe to the larynx (voice box), which houses the vocal cords. When air passes through, the vocal cords vibrate, creating sound. The shape and size of the throat, mouth, and nasal passages modify this sound into different pitches and tones. Muscles in the larynx control the cords' tension, influencing pitch, while the tongue, lips, and soft palate shape words. This coordinated system allows us to speak, sing, and express emotions through our voice.
