Anatomy of the Heart
The heart is a muscular organ that pumps blood throughout the body, supplying oxygen and nutrients. It has four chambers: two upper atria and two lower ventricles. Blood from the body enters the right atrium, moves to the right ventricle, and is then pumped to the lungs to pick up oxygen. Oxygen-rich blood returns to the left atrium, moves to the left ventricle, and is then pushed out to the body. Valves between chambers ensure blood flows in one direction. The heart’s rhythmic contractions, controlled by electrical signals, keep blood continuously circulating, maintaining overall health and function.
