Anastasio Somoza Debayle

Anastasio Somoza Debayle was a Nicaraguan political and military leader who served as the country's president from 1967 to 1972, and then as leader again from 1974 until he was overthrown in 1979. He was part of the prominent Somoza family, which held power in Nicaragua for several decades. His regime was known for corruption, repression of opponents, and close ties to U.S. interests.
