Anaphylaxis in children

Anaphylaxis is a severe allergic reaction that can occur suddenly in children, often in response to foods (like peanuts or shellfish), insect stings, medications, or latex. Symptoms include difficulty breathing, swelling of the face or throat, hives, and a rapid drop in blood pressure. It's a medical emergency that requires immediate treatment with an epinephrine injection. If not treated quickly, it can be life-threatening. Parents and caregivers should be aware of triggers and have an action plan, including carrying an epinephrine auto-injector if their child is at risk.
