Anaphase
Anaphase is a stage in cell division where duplicated chromosomes are pulled apart to opposite ends of the cell. Once the chromosomes are correctly lined up, specialized fibers called spindle fibers contract and legally separate the sister chromatids, ensuring each new cell will receive an identical set of genetic information. This movement is driven by the shortening of these fibers, effectively segregating the genetic material to prepare for the final step of cell division, called telophase, where the cell splits into two.
