Analogue tape

Analogue tape is a magnetic recording medium used to capture audio and video signals. It consists of a thin strip of plastic coated with a magnetic material. When recording, an magnetic recording head aligns the magnetic particles to represent the sound or image signals. During playback, the process is reversed: the magnetic pattern is converted back into electrical signals for amplification and output. Analogue tape captures continuous signals, providing a warm, natural sound, but is susceptible to physical wear, degradation over time, and noise, which can affect the quality of the recording.
