An tOireachtas
An tOireachtas is the national parliament of Ireland, responsible for making and passing laws. It consists of two houses: Dáil Éireann (the lower house, where government is formed) and Seanad Éireann (the upper house, which reviews legislation). Members of Dáil Éireann are elected directly by Irish citizens, while Senators are appointed or elected through various methods. The Oireachtas debates, scrutinizes proposed laws, and holds the government accountable. It plays a central role in Irish democracy, ensuring government actions align with laws and the interests of the people.
