An-sky

Yehiel Shalom "S. An-sky" was a Russian-Jewish scholar, playwright, and ethnographer born in 1880. He is best known for his work documenting Jewish folklore, language, and traditions, especially among Eastern European Jewish communities. An-sky also created influential plays that explored Jewish identity and culture, notably "The Dybbuk." His research aimed to preserve and understand Jewish life amidst growing cultural changes and challenges.
