Amusia
Amusia is a neurological condition that affects a person's ability to recognize, understand, or produce music, particularly melodies and rhythm. Often called "tone deafness," it can range from mild difficulty discerning pitch changes to a complete inability to perceive musical tones. Amusia typically results from brain damage or developmental differences in areas responsible for processing musical sounds, especially within the auditory cortex. People with amusia may find music unappealing, struggle with singing or playing instruments, and often do not experience the emotional responses others do to music. Despite these challenges, they usually have normal hearing and intelligence.
