Amplitudes

Amplitude refers to the maximum extent a wave reaches from its resting or equilibrium position. In simple terms, it measures the size or strength of the wave's peak or trough. For example, in sound waves, larger amplitudes mean louder sounds, while in light waves, greater amplitudes produce brighter illumination. Amplitude is a key indicator of a wave's energy: bigger amplitudes mean more energy, smaller ones mean less. It's a fundamental concept in understanding how waves carry energy and information across various forms, including sound, light, and other electromagnetic waves.
