Amplitude (music concept)

In music, amplitude refers to the strength or magnitude of the sound wave, which determines the loudness of the sound we hear. When the amplitude is larger, the sound is louder; when it's smaller, the sound is softer. Think of amplitude as how high the wave peaks are on a graph representing sound; higher peaks mean more energy and a louder volume. Amplitude does not affect the pitch, which is related to the frequency of the wave. So, in summary, amplitude controls how loud or soft a musical sound is perceived.
