Amphitheatrum

An amphitheatrum (amphitheater) is an ancient Roman outdoor structure designed for public entertainment, such as gladiator games, performances, and sports events. Typically circular or oval, it features tiered seating that surrounds a central arena where events take place. The design allows large audiences to view performances comfortably and provides excellent visibility and acoustics. The most famous example is the Colosseum in Rome. Amphitheaters were significant social and cultural hubs in Roman society, showcasing engineering prowess with their durable construction and sophisticated layout.
