amorphous state

An amorphous state refers to a condition where a material's molecules are not arranged in a regular, repeating pattern like in crystals. Instead, they are disorganized and lack a definite structure, similar to the way liquids are organized. This disorder gives amorphous materials unique properties, such as being less rigid or melting over a range of temperatures rather than at a sharp point. Common examples include glass and certain plastics. The amorphous state results from rapid cooling or processing that prevents the molecules from forming an ordered crystalline structure.
