Amorphous silica

Amorphous silica is a type of silicon dioxide, like what’s found in quartz, but it lacks a regular, crystalline structure. Instead, its atoms are randomly arranged, giving it a glassy, non-crystalline form. This form of silica is used in various applications such as glass manufacturing, fillers in rubber and plastics, and in cosmetics. Because it’s amorphous, it doesn’t have the sharp edges associated with crystalline silica, making it generally safer to handle, although inhaling fine particles can still pose health risks.
