Ammoniagenesis

Ammoniagenesis is the process by which the body converts amino acids, the building blocks of proteins, into ammonia. Since ammonia is toxic, the body quickly transforms it into a less harmful substance called urea in the liver, which is then safely excreted through urine. This process primarily occurs in the kidneys and liver and helps maintain the body's nitrogen balance and prevent the buildup of toxic waste products from protein metabolism.
