amine-based solvents
Amine-based solvents are chemical liquids used to remove carbon dioxide (CO₂) from gases like industrial emissions or natural gas. They contain amines, which are compounds with nitrogen atoms that can easily bond with CO₂. When the gas passes through these solvents, the CO₂ reacts with the amines and is captured. Later, the CO₂ can be separated from the solvent by heating or other methods, allowing the solvent to be reused. This process helps reduce greenhouse gases in the atmosphere and is a key technology in carbon capture and storage efforts.
