Amicus briefs

An amicus brief, short for "amicus curiae" or "friend of the court," is a document submitted by someone who is not a party in a legal case but has an interest or expertise relevant to the case’s issue. Its purpose is to provide additional perspectives, research, or arguments to help the court make a well-informed decision. Courts may consider these briefs during appeals or significant cases, but the court is not obliged to accept or rely on their contents. Essentially, amicus briefs are a way for interested parties outside the immediate lawsuit to offer valuable insights.
