Amerigo Vespucci (the name of various geographical locations)
Amerigo Vespucci was an Italian explorer and navigator from the late 15th and early 16th centuries. He is credited with demonstrating that the lands discovered by European explorers in the New World were part of a separate continent, not Asia. His observations and maps helped Europeans understand the geography of the Americas. Several places, such as the country of Venezuela, the city of Vespucci in Italy, and the continents of North and South America, are named after him in honor of his contributions to cartography and exploration.
