Americanos

An Americano is a type of coffee made by adding hot water to a shot or two of espresso, resulting in a brew that’s similar in strength and flavor to drip coffee but with a richer, more complex profile. It originated during World War II when American soldiers in Europe diluted espresso to mimic the coffee they're accustomed to back home. The standard recipe involves one or two shots of espresso with hot water—typically in a 1:2 or 1:3 ratio—creating a smooth, flavorful beverage that offers the depth of espresso with a milder, more drinkable profile.
