American Volunteer Group (Flying Tigers)
The American Volunteer Group, known as the Flying Tigers, was a group of volunteer pilots from the United States who fought for China against Japan during World War II. Active from 1941 to 1942, they used their flying skills to defend Chinese skies before the U.S. officially entered the war. The Flying Tigers became famous for their innovative tactics and distinctive shark-faced aircraft paintwork. Their efforts significantly boosted Chinese morale and provided valuable combat experience that helped shape American air strategy in the Pacific Theater.
