American Strategic Defense Initiative Organization

The Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI), often called "Star Wars," was a proposed US project in the 1980s to develop advanced missile defense systems. Its goal was to protect the country from nuclear missile attacks by using satellite-based lasers and interceptors to detect, track, and destroy incoming missiles before they reach land. While it was a highly ambitious and innovative plan, it faced technical and political challenges, and it was never fully realized. The SDI aimed to improve national security by creating a shield against missile threats during the Cold War era.
