American Indians

American Indians, also known as Native Americans or Indigenous peoples, are the original inhabitants of North America, with diverse cultures, languages, and histories. Before European contact, they had complex societies and were connected to the land through their traditions and lifestyles. Following European colonization, many Indigenous communities faced displacement, violence, and cultural assimilation. Today, American Indians continue to maintain their identities and advocate for their rights, land, and cultural preservation while contributing to the broader society. There are over 500 federally recognized tribes in the United States, each with unique heritages.
