American Feminist Movement

The American feminist movement is a social and political effort to achieve gender equality by advocating for women’s rights and addressing gender-based discrimination. It has evolved through several waves: the first (late 19th–early 20th century) focused on legal rights like voting; the second (1960s–1980s) targeted workplace equality and social norms; and the third (1990s–present) emphasizes intersectionality and broader issues like reproductive rights, violence, and systemic inequalities. Overall, it seeks to empower women and promote fairness across all aspects of society.
