American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA)

The American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA) was a labor union that represented professionals in the entertainment industry, specifically those working in television, radio, and new media. Established to advocate for the rights and interests of its members, AFTRA negotiated contracts that set working conditions, wages, and benefits. In 2012, AFTRA merged with the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) to form the Screen Actors Guild‐American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA). This union continues to protect and support the rights of performers and media professionals in the evolving landscape of entertainment.
