AMC (American Motors Corporation)

American Motors Corporation (AMC) was a major American automobile manufacturer active from 1954 to 1988. It was formed through the merger of Nash-Kelvinator and Hudson Motor Car Company, aiming to compete with larger automakers. AMC was known for producing compact and affordable vehicles, like the Rambler, which gained popularity in the 1950s and 1960s. Over time, AMC expanded its lineup with models such as the Jeep, which became highly successful. Despite its innovations, AMC struggled financially against larger competitors and eventually was acquired by Chrysler in 1987, marking the end of its independent operations in 1988.
