Amblyomma
Amblyomma is a genus of hard ticks known for their elongated bodies and distinctive, ornate scutum (shield). They are blood-feeding parasites found worldwide, especially in warm regions. Amblyomma ticks can attach to various animals, including humans, and may transmit diseases such as Rocky Mountain spotted fever and ehrlichiosis. They typically have a multi-stage life cycle involving eggs, larvae, nymphs, and adults, often requiring a blood meal at each stage. Their presence is significant in both wildlife and human health due to their role as disease vectors.
