Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization

The Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization (ACTO) is a regional collaboration established in 1978 among Amazonian countries—Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, Suriname, and Venezuela. Its goal is to promote sustainable development, environmental protection, and coordinated management of the Amazon rainforest. ACTO facilitates dialogue, shared research, and joint projects to address issues like deforestation, biodiversity conservation, and climate change. By working together, member countries aim to preserve the ecological integrity of the Amazon while supporting social and economic development in the region.
