Amal Movement
The Amal Movement is a political party and social organization in Lebanon, primarily representing the Shia Muslim community. Founded in the 1970s during the Lebanese Civil War, it initially focused on social justice and fighting for Shia rights. The movement has since evolved into a significant political force, participating in Lebanese parliamentary elections and holding various government positions. Amal advocates for national unity and development, but it also has historical ties to armed resistance, especially against Israeli invasions. Under the leadership of Nabih Berri, the party has aimed to balance local interests with regional political dynamics.
