Alutiiq
The Alutiiq are an Indigenous people native to the Alaska Peninsula and Kodiak Island. They have a rich cultural heritage, traditionally relying on fishing, hunting, and gathering for sustenance. Their language, also called Alutiiq, is part of the Eskimo-Aleut language family, though it is endangered. Historically, they lived in large villages, built boats, and developed intricate art and oral traditions. Today, many Alutiiq continue to preserve their heritage through language revitalization, cultural practices, and community activities, maintaining a vital connection to their ancestral lands and history.
