altitude running
Altitude running involves practicing or competing at high elevations, where the air contains less oxygen. This environment challenges the body to adapt by producing more red blood cells to carry oxygen efficiently. Training at altitude can improve endurance and aerobic capacity, but initially may cause fatigue due to reduced oxygen levels. Athletes often use altitude training to enhance performance; however, proper acclimatization is essential to avoid altitude sickness. Once adapted, some athletes experience benefits when competing at lower elevations, thanks to their improved oxygen-carrying ability.
