Alternative algebra is a type of mathematical system where the multiplication operation isn’t necessarily associative—meaning the order of grouping factors matters—but still satisfies a weaker condition called alternativity. In an alternative algebra, when multiplying the same element twice or involving repeated elements, the usual rules of associativity hold. This structure extends familiar concepts from regular algebra, allowing for more flexible and complex multiplication rules, which are useful in areas like advanced mathematics and physics.
