Altera

Altera was a company specializing in programmable logic devices, mainly Field-Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs). These are versatile chips that can be customized after manufacturing to perform various digital tasks, allowing designers to adapt hardware for different applications. In 2015, Altera was acquired by Intel, integrating its adaptable hardware solutions into Intel’s product portfolio. FPGAs are used in data centers, telecommunications, automotive systems, and more, providing flexible, high-performance computing options by allowing hardware to be reprogrammed for specific needs without changing physical chips.
