Alphonse De Candolle
Alphonse De Candolle (1806–1893) was a Swiss botanist renowned for his work in plant classification and taxonomy. He expanded upon his father, Augustin Pyramus de Candolle’s, system of plant classification, refining how plants are grouped based on their characteristics and relationships. He was also instrumental in developing botanical reference works, such as the "Prodromus Systematis Naturalis Regni Vegetabilis," which aimed to catalog all known plant species. His contributions helped establish a more systematic and scientific approach to studying plant diversity, greatly influencing modern botany and plant systematics.
