Alpha (α) Draconis
Alpha (α) Draconis, also known as Thuban, is a star located in the constellation Draco. It was historically significant as the approximate celestial pole star around 2700 BC due to Earth's axial precession, helping ancient Egyptians align their constructions. Thuban is a white giant star about 303 light-years away, larger and more luminous than the Sun. While it no longer occupies the Earth's north celestial pole, it remains an interesting object for astronomers as an example of stellar evolution and Earth's changing orientation over millennia.
