Alpha (α) Aquilae

Alpha (α) Aquilae, commonly known as Altair, is a bright star in the constellation Aquila. It is approximately 16.7 light-years away from Earth, making it one of our close stellar neighbors. Altair is an A-type main-sequence star, meaning it is hotter and more luminous than our Sun, primarily shining with a white hue. It is notable for its rapid rotation, completing a spin in about 10 hours, which causes it to have a flattened shape. Altair is part of the Summer Triangle asterism and is visible to the naked eye in the summer sky of the Northern Hemisphere.
