Alpha (Alpha norm)
Alpha (or Alpha norm) is a mathematical concept used to measure the size or magnitude of a vector or set of data, especially when dealing with different types of data or different scales. It generalizes the idea of calculating the "distance" of data points from the origin, adjusting the way differences are weighted based on a parameter called alpha. When alpha is 2, it corresponds to the usual Euclidean distance (like straight-line distance). Different alpha values give different emphasis to larger or smaller components, making the Alpha norm a flexible tool for analyzing data with varying characteristics.
