Allograft

An allograft is a medical procedure where tissue, such as skin, bone, or cartilage, is taken from a donor of the same species—usually a deceased or living person—and transplanted to another person in need. This type of graft is commonly used in surgeries to repair or replace damaged tissues. Because the donor tissue comes from someone else, the recipient's body may recognize it as foreign and attempt to reject it, so immunosuppressant drugs are often used to help prevent rejection and ensure the graft functions successfully.
