Allogeneic stem cell transplant

An allogeneic stem cell transplant is a medical procedure where healthy blood-forming cells are taken from a donor and transplanted into a patient, typically to treat blood cancers or other serious blood diseases. The goal is to replace the patient's diseased or damaged bone marrow with functioning healthy cells, enabling the body to produce normal blood cells. Before the transplant, the patient usually undergoes chemotherapy or radiation to eliminate diseased cells and suppress the immune system to prevent rejection. The donor cells then migrate to the bone marrow, where they establish new healthy blood cell production.
