Allgemeiner Deutscher Arbeiterverein (ADAV)
The Allgemeiner Deutscher Arbeiterverein (ADAV) was a German workers' organization founded in 1863 by Ferdinand Lassalle. It aimed to promote workers' rights, social reforms, and political representation through peaceful means and education. The ADAV was one of the first socialist parties in Germany, advocating for better working conditions, social justice, and political participation for the working class. It played a significant role in the development of German socialism and labor movements, eventually merging with other groups to form the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD), which continued to advocate for workers' interests.
