
Allende, Salvador
Salvador Allende was a Chilean politician and physician who served as the country's president from 1970 to 1973. He was known for his efforts to implement socialist policies aimed at reducing inequality, such as land reforms and nationalization of key industries. His presidency was marked by social reforms, but also significant political opposition and economic challenges. In 1973, a military coup led by General Augusto Pinochet overthrew his government.
