Allenby Campaign
The Allenby Campaign refers to a series of military operations during World War I, led by General Edmund Allenby in 1917-1918, aimed at capturing the Ottoman Empire's territory in Palestine. Starting with the successful Battle of Gaza, it culminated in the decisive capture of Jerusalem in December 1917. This campaign was marked by innovative tactics, including effective use of infantry, artillery, and air support. Allenby’s strategy not only aimed to defeat Ottoman forces but also to boost morale among local populations and Allied nations, contributing to the eventual collapse of Ottoman control in the region.
