Alkaline-Surfactant-Polymer flooding
Alkaline-Surfactant-Polymer (ASP) flooding is an enhanced oil recovery method used to extract more oil from underground reservoirs. It involves injecting a mixture of alkaline chemicals, surfactants, and polymers into the reservoir. The alkaline helps break down oil, surfactants reduce the oil's surface tension making it easier to move, and polymers increase the fluid's viscosity to improve sweep efficiency. Together, these components work synergistically to loosen and push out stubborn oil remnants, maximizing extraction from mature fields while minimizing environmental impact and using fewer resources compared to traditional methods.
