Alivardi Khan

Alivardi Khan was a prominent 18th-century ruler of Bengal, serving as the Nawab (governor) from 1740 to 1756. Known for restoring stability after a period of chaos, he strengthened the region’s defenses, managed internal affairs, and maintained relative peace. His leadership helped diminish internal conflicts and protect Bengal from external threats. Despite limited modernization, he is remembered for his cautious and strategic rule, which protected Bengal's interests during a turbulent era shaped by declining Mughal power and incoming European influence.
